Audi's - R8, A4, A5, Q5
Audi R8- mid-engine supercar, which shares its aluminum spaceframe and suspension with Lamborghini's Gallardo, is ready to make its debut later this year. Engines will be a 425-horse, 4.2-liter V-8 at launch, with a 520-horse, 5.2-literV-10 scheduled to appear in 2008.
Audi A4 - A coupe twin to the current A4 Cabriolet was planned but never built. But the next-generation A4 will get a coupe, likely with design cues from the Nuvolari show car. The new A4 platform will feature a unique drive system that pushes the front wheels forward by about four inches.
Audi A5 - the Detroit 2006 concept will likely be a larger version of the next A4. The next A4 and A6 share a platform, so an in-between car will be easy to do. The roomy A5 is scheduled to appear early 2008.
Audi Q5 - aimed at BMW's X3, the Q5 will be built using VW's new Marrakech mini SUV platform as exhibited under the Concept A body at Geneva. This isn't quite a Golf platform: It has a considerably beefy rear suspension. The Marrakech goes into production at Wolfsburg in 2007. Expect the Q5 in late 2008. The same mechanicals will be used for Porsche's new sub-Cayenne SUV.
