Brooks Brothers, L.L. Bean and Starbucks will be among the marquee tenants at the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley's upscale open air mall in Upper Saucon Township.
Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers, the Memphis, Tenn., developer building the Promenade Shops, released an official list of 44 stores that will occupy the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley when it opens on Oct. 27, 2006. Some of the stores are newcomers to the Lehigh Valley, while a few, such as L.L. Bean, will open their first stores in the state.
Jos. A. Bank a Formal men's clothier will take space at the Promenade Shops, as will as fashion denim chain Lucky Brand Jeans. Fresh Market will sell gourmet groceries, while Bellini will sell stylish baby cribs.
The 475,000-square-foot mall in the Stabler Corporate Center on Center Valley Parkway also will feature decorative paving, two fountains, a gazebo and a ''village green'' amphitheater with 400 seats, built as a site for concerts and other public events.
The Promenade Shops will be the Valley's first lifestyle center open air mall that mixes higher end stores, lavish landscaping and a design ambience that mimics Main Street shopping districts. The new mall aims to offer the kind of shopping experience local residents have had to drive to Philadelphia suburbs to find.
Some of the tenants were officially confirmed months ago, either by Poag & McEwen or the retailers themselves. They included Barnes & Noble, Fresh Market, L.L. Bean, the Rave Theatre movie megaplex, and two locally owned
businesses - women's clothier Sage and Mediterranean restaurant Melt.
Stores that were not previously known include children's clothing store the Children's Place; Philadelphia jeweler J.E. Caldwell & Co.; men's dress-shoes store Johnston & Murphy; teen focused cap seller Lids; Lucky Brand Jeans; Portrait Innovations; Sprint Wireless; Starbucks; a Wachovia bank and a state liquor store.
Two affordable teen-focused brands, Claire's and American Eagle Outfitters, and two brands known more for targeting middle-market malls, LensCrafters and Kay Jewelers.
One clear rival for the Promenade Shops will be the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township, the region's largest mall and the long time anchor of the MacArthur Road retail strip. Some of the retailers at the Promenade Shops, including Aeropostale, Children's Place and Lids, also have stores at the Lehigh Valley Mall. Bombay Company left the Lehigh Valley Mall and will move to the Promenade Shops.
The Lehigh Valley Mall, is adding 120,000 square feet of upscale shopping space in an attempt to keep shoppers coming back to MacArthur Road.
